Settlement as calcium phosphate

A method for the recovery of phosphate during the treatment of waste water is the settlement of calcium phosphate. This process has been in operation on a practical scale at the water treatment plant at the Hollands Noorderkwartier water board Geestmerambacht plant since 1993. The installation produces beautiful grains of calcium phosphate that can be used as a raw material in a phosphor factory. However, the process is relatively expensive and no new installations have been built since 1993. In addition, this process only recovers half of the phosphate.
